The Central Washington University (CWU) Department of Geography has a digitized collection of historical aerial photography covering the counties of central Washington State. This website makes the department's digital collection available for viewing and downloading on the Internet.
The original photographs were created by the United States Department of Agriculture. They are black and white 9 in. X 9 in. prints, which contain a date of aquisition and photograph identification code stamped on the top. The first three letters of the photograph identification code are the project code. Projects in this collection cover individual counties.
The digitized photographs are not orthorectified or georeferenced. Forward overlap (endlap) of successive photos in a flight line is between 60% to 70%. Lateral overlap (sidelap) of photos in adjacent flight lines is between 20% and 30%.
The Geography Department does not prepare special orders. Digital photographs are provided to the public through this website.
